Manage user rights

User rights are premissions granted to a user, like reading, modifying, deleting or gaining access to certain parts of a project.

Users who have company rights automatically transfer those rights to any project within the company, including subsidiaries. This is because they already have rights at a company level. If you do not want this, you can give users rights at a project level. You can give a user different types of permissions per project, but this must be done manually.

Check a user’s permissions

Click Users in the navigation menu.

User management interface displaying search and user details for company users.

You can look up users at the company level or at the project level.

Attention!

In the Company Users tab, only users who have been added at company level are shown. Users who are part of a few projects can be found under the Project Users tab. If a user is added at the company level, the user will be visible in all your projects.

Click on the user whose permissions you want to view or change. In the Edit User panel, click on the Company Rights or Project Rights tab to inspect the user’s permissions.

Manage a user's permissions

There are several ways to change a user's permissions:

  • via the company or project tab via the Users page;

  • via the user tab via the Companies page;

  • via the user tab via the Projects page.

Manage permissions from the Edit User panel

In the edit screen, click on the user's Company Rights or Project Rights tab. Here you look up the company or project that this user is part of.

Attention!

You can see all the permissions that a user has. The rights in transparent gray are rights that you do not have yourself, but that the user has. You can't remove from or add permissions to a user that you don't own.

Click Add Rights.

User management interface displaying various permissions and settings for John Doe.

If the user has all assignable rights, the message Has all available rights will appear. If not, a list of assignable rights will appear.

Hint!

You have the option to grant or remove all rights at once in the selection field.

To remove a user right, click on the cross icon.

Manage permissions via the company or projects page

On the Companies or Projects page, search for the company or project for which you want to manage user permissions.

Click the company name or project name to open the Edit panel and go to the Users tab.
Enter the name of the user in the search field. You will then see the permissions that this user has.

Editing user permissions for John Doe in ACME company settings interface.

You can edit the permissions on these pages the same way you would through the Users page.

Types of user rights

There are 31 user rights. These permissions can be granted all at once with Select all, or you can select specific permissions to assign to a user. Project user permissions usually correspond to the pages that the user has access to. This means that the symbols in the navigation menu on the left side of the screen depend on your personal permissions.
