Introduction
In the first part of this guide, we will explain how to define notification presets for a particular asset type. A notification preset can be thought of as a bundle of different notifications. These presets are used to set up a notification role and are defined by asset type. When setting up a notification preset, you can specify exactly when you want to be notified and how. Examples of possible notification presets are: notifications about alarms, notifications about the tank capacity and notifications regarding the switching on or off of a machine.
When the gateway sends data to the portal, it has no knowledge of the context of that data. To make sense of this, you need to set up event definitions. These definitions can be used to record events, such as when the contents of a tank reach a critical level or when a generator has been running for too long.
Create a notification preset
Click Assets in the navigation menu and open the Types tab.
Find the asset type for which you want to create a notification preset and click on it.
The panel for editing an asset type appears. Go to the Notification Presets tab.
Click the plus button to create a new notification preset.
Attention!
If notification presets have not yet been created for this asset type, you will not see a plus button. In this case, click the Add notification preset button.
You will now see a list of all sensors for the chosen asset type. Using the search bar, you can quickly look up a specific sensor.
Click the name of a sensor to add it to the notification preset.
Select how you want to receive notifications and what state you want the event to be in.
Hint!
If you want to receive reminders for a particular notification, activate the Reminder slider for the desired notification type. You can then set the amount of time after which you want to receive a reminder.
Give the new notification preset a name and click Save. You can now close the window.
Hint!
If you want to receive notifications for multiple sensors in the same way and for the same event state, you can set this up at once. To do this, turn on the Update many slider.
Then set the medium through which you want to receive notifications and select all the sensors that are affected by checking the box next to each sensor.
Finally, click Apply to all selected rows before clicking Save .
Edit notification preset
If you already have a notification preset, but you want to receive notifications for more or fewer sensors, or if you want to receive them in a different way, you can change this at any time.

Click Assets in the navigation menu and open the Types tab.
Find the asset type for which you want to customize a notification preset and click on it.
Go to the Notification Presets tab.

If you no longer want to receive notifications, remove the settings by clicking on the name of the sensor in question again.
You can also change the name of the notification preset if desired.
Finally, click Save. You can now close the window.
Delete notification preset
