Setting a static IP address in the DSE configuration suite

Start the DSE Configuration Suite

Open the DSE Configuration Suite on your computer.
You will see the start screen as shown below.
Click on Read configuration from a module if you want to adjust the IP address of a connected controller.

Connect to the controller

At the top, you can choose how to connect to the DSE controller. This can be via USB or TCP/IP.
Select TCP/IP connection to connect via Ethernet.

Go to Ethernet settings

In the menu on the left, go to:

Communications → Ethernet Port

Here you can see the settings for the IP address and Modbus port.

Disabling DHCP

By default, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is enabled with Obtain IP Address Automatically.
To set a static IP address, you need to uncheck this.
After that, the fields for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway Address, and DNS Address can be set manually.

Set the static IP address

Now enter the desired network information:

  • IP Address

    The fixed IP address you want to assign to the controller (for example, 192.168.2.11).

  • Subnet Mask

    Usually 255.255.255.0 for local networks.

  • Gateway Address

    The IP address of the router.

  • DNS Address

    If necessary, the IP address of the DNS server.

Write the changes to the controller

Press the icon at the top to save the settings to the controller.

Attention!

The controller must be restarted for the changes to become effective.
