Notification roles define which notifications a user receives for an asset. A role groups together notification presets into one manageable structure, so you can assign consistent notification behavior without configuring each notification individually. Examples of notification roles include Customer, Technical Service, Maintenance, and Accounting.
In most cases, notification roles are created to match the responsibilities of a specific type of user. A role can include notification presets for multiple asset types, while the user will only receive notifications for the assets they are actually linked to.

Create a notification role
Click Events in the navigation menu.
Open the Notification Roles tab.
Click the plus icon to create a new notification role.
You will now see a list of all asset types within your project.
Use the search bar to find a specific asset type, if needed.
For each asset type that should be included in the role, click [ none ].
Select the notification presets that apply to that asset type.
Give the notification role a clear and descriptive name.
Click Save.

Use profile-based notification roles
In many cases, it is recommended to create notification roles based on user profiles rather than creating a separate role for each asset. This keeps the notification setup clear and easier to manage.
Examples of profile-based roles include:
Customer
Technical Service
Maintenance
Accounting
A profile-based notification role can include notification presets for multiple asset types. For example, one role may contain generator alarms, tank level alerts, and sensor threshold alerts. Even so, a user will only receive notifications for the specific assets they are assigned to.
This means you can use one role for a user profile across different asset types, without sending irrelevant notifications to that user.
Example:
A user has the role “Customer”
This role includes generator, tank, and sensor alarms
The user is only linked to a generator
The user will only receive generator alarms, not tank or sensor notifications.
Edit a notification role
Hint!
If a notification role already exists, you can update it at any time. For example, you can add or remove notification presets, change the asset types included in the role, or rename the role.
Click Events in the navigation menu.
Open the Notification Roles tab.
Find the notification role you want to edit and click on it.
Click Edit.

Editing a notification role is done in the same way as creating it.
Click [ none ] for an asset type that is not yet included in the role, or click the existing notification preset name for an asset type that is already linked.
Select the notification presets that should apply to that asset type.
Update the name of the role, if needed.
Click Save.

Remove a notification role
Hint!
If a notification role no longer applies to your company, you can remove it at any time.
Click Events in the navigation menu.
Open the Notification Roles tab.
Click the three dots next to the notification role you want to remove.
Select Delete to permanently remove the notification role.
