Removing an asset

If you don’t know which asset is linked to which gateway, you can find it by going through the gateway page.

Click Gateways in the navigation menu and type the serial number in the search bar to find the desired gateway.
Then click on the gateway to open the Edit Gateway panel and go to the Data Sources tab.

When you click on the arrow next to the data source, a new panel opens in which you can see all the assets that use that data source.

By clicking on the arrow next to the asset, you will be directed to the Edit Assit page.

If you know the name of the asset that you want to move, you can immediately go to it through the asset page.

Click on the Options button, and select Delete to remove the asset.

Attention!

Please make sure to make a note of any relevant information you wish to keep, for example the Comment field, a custom asset name or the metadata, since this won’t be taken over in the newcompany.

Removing a gateway

Go back to the Edit Gateway panel, click the Options button and select Unregister Gateway.

Attention!

Before unregistering a gateway, write down the gateway’s serial number.

Make sure that all data sources aren’t linked to an asset anymore, since those can’t be used anymore.

Sharing a gateway type and asset type with a new company

Make sure that the the new company has access to the asset type and gateway type that you wish to use. The gateway settings and the dashboard are linked to the gateway type and asset type respectively.
Sharing them makes registering the gateway and asset easier.

If they are already shared, you can skip to the section Registering the gateway under a new company.

Attention

Always share the asset type and gateway type to the new company. Don’t make a copy of them in the new company yourself!

Sharing a gateway type

Open the project to which the gateway type belongs, and go to the Gateways page.
Next, open the Gateway Types tab, and click on the gateway type you want to share with the new company.
The Edit Gateway Type panel opens. Click on the Options button, and select Share gateway type.

Activate the toggle button next to the company you wish to share the gateway type with.
Optionally, you can use the search bar to quickly locate the desired company.

Close the Share Gateway Type panel, and click on Save.
The gateway type is now shared with the new company.

Attention!

You can only share gateway types from the projects of the owner company. If you don’t have access to any of these projects, you have to ask a user who has access to those to share it.

Sharing the asset type with a new company

Open the project to which the asset type belongs, and go to the Assets page.
Next, open the Asset Types tab, and click on the asset type you want to share with the new company.
The Edit Asset Type panel opens. Click on the Options button, and select Share asset type.

Registering a gateway under a new company

Navigate to the Gateways page, here you will find an overview of all your active gateways.
Click on the Add button at the top right and choose Register Gateway.

In the Register Gateway panel, fill in the following field:

  • Serial Number: this can be found on the gray sticker on your gateway, and starts with an A.

Then click on Validate. If you have entered the correct serial number, you may still name the gateway and assign a gateway type.

  • Name: choose a logical name for this gateway. You can change this name afterwards.

  • Device Type: choose from device types that are common. With this, your gateway is already set up with automatic settings, dashboards, alerts etc. that are relevant for that particular device type.

Click Register and your new gateway will be added to the list of your existing gateways.

Hint!

When you’ve removed a gateway from a different company and registering it again, the portal will remember the name and gateway types that it had last.
Those fields will be filled in automatically, but still can be changed.

Creating the asset

Click Assets in the navigation menu.
Then click Add and choose Asset.

A panel will appear where you can fill in the basic details of the asset:

  • Type: the asset type with which this asset is built;

  • Name: what do you want this asset to be called;

  • Description: here you can describe the asset;

  • Data source: choose a data source for the asset.

Save the settings.

Hint!

Don’t forget to add the new asset to an asset group so that it will be visualized on a dashboard.
