Edit a dashboard and add widgets

Open the dashboard you want to edit.
Click the action menu button in the top right corner and choose Edit Dashboard.

Add a widget

Click the Add Widget button to open the widget selection panel.
By default, it opens in the Popular tab, with a selection of frequently used widgets. You can find more types of widgets in the other tabs.

Click on a widget to add it to the dashboard.

Hint!

You can change the name and description of the dashboard or, using the action menu next to the dashboard name, copy or delete the dashboard.

Widget data

In this section, you will set everything related to the measurement value and its nature.

Fill in the fields below:

  • Fake data: generates a series of simulated data, useful for setting up widgets when the sensor is not yet sending measurements.

  • Show events: displays the event assigned to a particular metric.

  • Computed measurement: performs a calculation on one or more measured values.

  • DataSource: determines where the data comes from.

  • Sensor: selects the data to be displayed.

  • Decimals: up to how many decimal places the measured value should be displayed.

  • Aggregation: Determines the aggregation of the incoming data.

    • MIN: shows the minimum value.

    • MAX: shows the maximum value.

    • SUM: calculates the sum of all values.

    • AVG: calculates the average value.

    • COUNT: counts the number of values.

    • FIRST: shows the first value.

    • LAST: shows the last value.

    • DIFF: calculates the difference between the first and last value.

  • Date format:

    • Short: shows day/month/year and hours:minutes.

    • Medium: shows day/month and hours:minutes:seconds.

    • Long: shows day/month/year and hours:minutes:seconds.

    • Only Time: shows hours:minutes:seconds.

    • Only Date: shows day/month/year.

  • Show data timestamp: shows measurement date and time.

  • Show string data: activate this slider if the measurement data is a string.

  • Is a timestamp: activate this slider if the measurement data is a date or time.

  • Label: this field appears on a widget where you can display multiple values (e.g., a chart, sankey). For each data source, a label will appear at the bottom and the color with which the data is displayed. When you hover over the data, a pop-up window appears with the label that belongs to the data source.

Press Next to go to Widget settings.

Widget settings

In this section, you set everything concerning the appearance and position of your widget.

  • Title: enter a title for the widget.

  • Widget width: the width of the widget is set in proportion to the width of the page. One-sixth of the width of the page is the minimum width, a full page is the maximum width.

  • Height: the desired widget height in pixels.

  • Icon: choose an icon for the widget from the list.

  • Prefix: a prefix for the measured value shown.

  • Suffix: a suffix for the measured value shown.

  • Order: determines the order of the widget on the dashboard.

Press Save to add the widget to the dashboard.

Hint!

The data range of your widget is directly linked to the selected time on the calendar. Changing the time of day changes the data range of your widget. How to do this is explained in the next section of this article.

Determining the date range of the data depicted

You can specify the period for which you want to see data.

Click on the date in the top right corner of the dashboard. A panel will appear where you can specify a date range.
Select the date from which you want to see data, and then select the end date.
Click Apply to confirm.

Edit a widget

To modify a widget, click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the widget.
