CX LEDs explained

Prev Next

This article explains what the LED behavior on the CX gateway means and what to do if the behavior is unexpected.

Unlike other gateways, the CX does not use separate LEDs for different functions. Instead, the entire front and side lighting acts as a single visual indicator. The meaning is determined by the color and animation of the light.

LED behavior overview

The CX uses different colors and animations to indicate its status:

  • Off

  • Rotating

  • Breathing (pulsing)

  • Solid

  • Indicator light (bottom right)

These combinations show whether the device is starting up, operating normally, or experiencing an issue.

Normal operation

Startup

Off (up to 2 minutes after power on)
The device is powering on.

Rotating green
The device is booting.

Green rotating → green solid within ±1 minute
The device is starting up correctly and will soon be operational.

Running normally

Breathing green (soft pulsing)
The device is working as intended.

Dimmed breathing green
The device is running at a higher temperature but is still functioning.

Connectivity during operation

Bottom right indicator – blue
The device is initializing or reconfiguring the cellular connection.
This can occur during startup or temporarily during operation.

Bottom right indicator – off (after blue phase)
The device has completed initialization and is connected.

If something is wrong

No power or startup failure

Off (longer than 2 minutes after power on)
The device is not receiving power or failed to start.

What you can do

  • Check that the power supply is connected correctly.

  • Verify that the power outlet is working.

  • Ensure the power supply provides the correct voltage (12–24 V DC).

  • Replace the power supply if needed.

  • Contact technical support if the issue continues.

Connectivity issues

Bottom right indicator – orange
The device has insufficient signal strength or no stable cellular connection.

What you can do

  • Reposition the device to improve reception.

  • Place the device higher or in a more open location.

  • Adjust the orientation towards a cellular tower.

  • Check the installation location for obstacles.

Device malfunction

Solid red
The device has encountered a malfunction.

LEDs constant (no animation) and no data is received
The device may have experienced an internal malfunction. The LEDs remain on, but no animation is visible and no data is transmitted.

What you can do

  • Restart the device by disconnecting and reconnecting the power.

  • If the issue persists, disconnect the device from power for an extended period (for example several hours, up to 24 hours if needed), then reconnect it.

  • Check whether data is received again after restarting.

  • Contact technical support if the issue continues.

Power loss

Pulsating red
The device is running on its internal backup battery after external power was lost.

This is expected behavior.

What you can do

  • Restore external power as soon as possible.

  • Check the power connection and supply.

  • Once power is restored, the device will return to normal operation automatically.

Reboot or shutdown

Rotating blue
The device is rebooting or shutting down.

This may occur during updates or when the device is powered off manually.

Verify installation

After installation, you can use the LED behavior to confirm that the device is working correctly.

  1. Power on the device.

  2. Wait until the LED turns solid or breathing green.

  3. Check that the bottom indicator light is no longer blue.

  4. Within approximately 20 minutes, verify that connected sensors appear online in the portal.

If these steps are successful, the device is fully operational.

When to contact support

Contact technical support if:

  • the LED remains red for an extended period

  • the device does not start after power checks

  • connectivity issues persist after repositioning

  • no data is received and the LEDs remain constant without animation
