Installing CX

Prev Next

This article explains how to install and set up the CX gateway. It covers the required preparation, mounting, and verification steps to ensure the device operates correctly.

The CX gateway is a wireless device that communicates with sensors and the cloud. Correct placement and installation are essential for reliable performance.

Before you start

Before installing the CX gateway, make sure you have the following:

  • CX gateway

  • Power supply (12–24 V DC)

  • Power cable

  • LoRa antenna

  • Mounting screws and wall plugs

Choose a suitable installation location

The CX relies on wireless communication. To ensure optimal performance:

  • Install the device as high as possible for the best signal reception
(avoid installing at eye level or lower positions)

  • Ensure the antenna is not obstructed by walls or metal objects

  • Avoid placing the device in direct sunlight

  • Prefer installation on the north side of a building or in a shaded location

  • Maintain at least 20 cm of free space around the device for ventilation

  • Position the front of the device towards the nearest cellular tower

  • Ensure the device has access to open sky if GPS is used

Install the CX gateway

Mount the device

The CX can be mounted on a wall using the supplied screws and plugs.

  1. Use the mounting template to mark the drill holes.

  2. Drill the holes using a suitable drill bit (size 6).

  3. Insert the wall plugs.

  4. Secure the gateway to the wall using the screws.

Important

  • The back of the device acts as a heat sink.

  • Do not block airflow on any side of the device.

  • Ensure sufficient spacing around the unit.

Install the antenna

  1. Remove any packaging from the antenna.

  2. Attach the antenna to the connector on top of the device.

  3. Tighten the antenna by hand only (hand-tight).

Important

  • Do not use tools such as a wrench.

  • Overtightening can damage the connector or antenna.

Connect the power supply

  1. Connect the power cable to the connector at the bottom of the device.

  2. Connect the cable to the power supply (label side as indicated).

  3. Plug the power supply into a 230V outlet.

After powering the device, the front logo should light up within approximately 2 minutes.

Verify the installation

After installation, verify that the device is operating correctly.

  1. Wait until the device has completed startup.

  2. Confirm that the device shows normal operation (green light).

  3. Wait up to 20 minutes for the device to connect.

  4. Check in the portal whether the connected sensors appear online.

If the sensors appear online, the installation is complete and the CX is operational.

Powering off the device

In some cases, such as returning the device (RMA), the CX must be powered off manually.

  1. Hold the device upside down (with the antenna connector pointing downward).

  2. Tap firmly on the back of the device.

  3. The LEDs will start a blue and white animation.

  4. The device will shut down within approximately one minute.

  5. When all LEDs are off, the device is fully powered down.

If something is not working

Device does not power on

  • Check the power supply and cable connections

  • Verify that the power outlet is working

  • Ensure the correct voltage is used (12–24 V DC)

  • Try a different power supply if needed

No connection or poor signal

  • Reposition the device to a higher location

  • Avoid obstacles such as walls or metal structures

  • Ensure the device is not installed too low (e.g. eye level)

  • Adjust the orientation towards a cellular tower

Sensors do not appear online

  • Wait at least 20 minutes after startup

  • Verify the installation location and signal quality

  • Contact technical support if the issue persists

Result

After installation, the CX gateway is mounted, powered, and connected. The device will automatically start communicating with sensors and sending data to the platform.

No additional configuration is required. The device is preconfigured and ready to use after installation.
