Recalibrating a tank monitor

Prev Next

The process for recalibrating a tank is fully integrated into the Calculus Configurator Tool, which you can find at: https://install.calculus.group/.

For detailed instructions on how to use the Configurator Tool, read the following article: Calculus configurator manual.

When do I need to recalibrate the tank?

Recalibration might be necessary when, for example a pressure sensor was replaced, or when the season has changed. Another reason might be that an asset’s detail dashboard indicates that the tank needs to be calibrated, by displaying the following message:

Recalibration with the Calculus Configurator Tool

In the navigation menu, under Setup & How-to, click on Installations. You are presented with an overview of installations linked to the current company workspace. To narrow down the list of installations, enter a few characters in the search bar.

Click on the eye icon for the installation you wish to calibrate. A new screen opens, detailing the choosen installation.

Press the Tank test & calibration button to go to the calibration screen.

Click on the Calibrate sensor button. This presents you with a choice to calibrate from a full tank, partially filled tank, or a tank with known dimensions.

Depending on your preferred calibration method, continue with the appropriate flow:

Method 1: Calibration with a full tank

  1. Select Tank is full as the calibration method and press the Calculate and compare button.

  2. A panel appears displaying the current sensor reading, tank capacity and calculated reference value.

  3. Mark the box I confirm this calibration and click on Save calibration. A message will be shown indicating that calibration was successful.

Method 2: Calibration with a known volume

  1. Select I know the litres as the calibration method.

  2. Enter the volume currently in the tank, mark the confirmation box and click the Calculate & compare button. A panel appears displaying the current sensor reading, tank capacity and calculated reference value.

  3. Mark the box I confirm this calibration and click on Save calibration. A message will be shown indicating that calibration was successful.

Method 3: Calibration with a known height

  1. Select I measured the height as the calibration method.

  2. Enter the current liquid height and the liquid height at 100% (both in centimeters), mark the confirmation box and click the Calculate & compare button. A panel appears displaying the current sensor reading, tank capacity and calculated reference value.

  3. Mark the box I confirm this calibration and click on Save calibration. A message will be shown indicating that calibration was successful.

Your tank is now fully calibrated.

Attention!

After calibrating the tank, the updated volume will not appear immediately. The correct volume will be shown on the dashboard when the next measurement is received.

Also, liquids expand when they warm up, and contract when they cool down. For this reason, it is possible that a tank, after an initial calibration during the summer, needs to be recalibrated when refilled during the winter period. If, after a refill, you receive an unexpected notification that the tank needs to be calibrated, consider this reason.
