Connect to a Siemens LOGO using Calculus Digger

Calculus Digger allows you to connect remotely to a Siemens LOGO! through a Calculus gateway. This makes it possible to access the controller in LOGO! Soft Comfort without being physically present at the installation.

The connection is established by opening an Ethernet tunnel in Digger. LOGO! Soft Comfort then connects to a local address, while Digger forwards the communication through the selected Calculus gateway to the LOGO!.

Once the connection has been established, you can use the online functions in LOGO! Soft Comfort.
For example, you can open the online settings and check the installed firmware version. Accessing the program may require the LOGO! to be switched from RUN to STOP.

Before you start

Make sure the following software is installed on your computer:

• Calculus Digger

• Siemens LOGO! Soft Comfort

The Calculus gateway connected to the LOGO! must be available in your Digger environment.

Note!

A gateway is only visible in Digger if it’s registered to your customer portal and if it’s online.

Open the Ethernet tunnel in Calculus Digger

1. Open Calculus Digger.

2. Search for the gateway connected to the LOGO!.

3. Select the gateway.

4. Select the Ethernet connections with remote ports 8080 and 8443.

5. Click Open Tunnel.

In the example shown, both connections point to the LOGO! at remote address 192.168.2.3.

The remote address may differ between installations.
Click Open Tunnel.

Note!

Keep the tunnel open while working in LOGO! Soft Comfort.

Configure the connection in LOGO! Soft Comfort

1. Open LOGO! Soft Comfort.

2. Open the required project.

3. Open the interface settings.

4. For Connect through, select Dynamic DNS.

5. Enter the following address in the URL field:
   127.0.0.1

6. Click Test.

When the test succeeds, click OK.

Use the online settings

After establishing the connection, open the online settings in LOGO! Soft Comfort.

For example, the installed firmware version can be viewed under:

Online settings > Show FW version

The firmware version is then shown in the main window.

Important!

LOGO! Soft Comfort may ask to change the LOGO! from RUN to STOP when accessing the program.

Only continue when the connected installation may safely be stopped.

Changing the operating mode can interrupt the operation of the installation.

Close the connection

When you have finished:

1. Close the connection in LOGO! Soft Comfort.

2. Return to Calculus Digger.

3. Click Close Tunnel.

The remote connection is now closed.

Troubleshooting

Open Tunnel is unavailable

Check whether the connections for ports 8080 and 8443 are selected.

The connection test fails

Check the following:

• the correct gateway is selected in Digger;

• ports 8080 and 8443 are selected;

• the tunnel is open;

• Dynamic DNS is selected in LOGO! Soft Comfort;

• the URL is set to 127.0.0.1.

The interface looks different

The screenshots may have been taken in a different version of Calculus Digger or LOGO! Soft Comfort. The names and locations of buttons may differ slightly, but the required settings remain the same.
