Calculate driving distance and ETA

Prev Next

It is possible to calculate the driving distance and estimated travel time between assets on the map.
This helps you compare which asset can reach a location faster, which can be useful when planning an intervention, dispatching equipment or choosing the closest available asset.
To use this functionality, open the home dashboard and click on an asset on the map.

The map will show a pop-up with information about the selected asset and several action buttons.
Click on the clock icon to open the Calculate driving distance and ETA panel.

Select the destination

The selected asset is automatically used as the destination.
In the Destination section, you can see which asset you are navigating to. The panel also shows whether the asset uses a GPS location or a pinned location.
If you want to calculate the route to another location, enter a different address in the Destination address field and click Get location.

Select the origin assets

In the Origin assets section, select the assets from which you want to calculate the distance and ETA.
You can search for assets or select one or more asset groups.

After selecting the origin assets, click Calculate and continue.

View the results

The results show the driving distance and estimated travel time between the selected origin assets and the destination.
The results include:

  • Asset: the asset used as the origin.

  • Distance: the driving distance to the destination.

  • ETA: the estimated travel time to the destination.

  • Group: the asset group the origin asset belongs to.

  • Last seen: when the asset last sent its location.

  • Pinned: whether the asset uses a pinned location.

  • Route: opens the route in Google Maps.

Use the results to compare assets and decide which one is best suited to reach the selected destination.

Important!

Driving distance and ETA are calculated based on the available asset locations. If an asset has not sent a recent GPS location, the result may be based on an older location. If you expect a different result, check whether the asset location is correct.

For more information about viewing or managing the location of an asset, see the following guide: View or manage the location of an asset.
