What are assets?
An asset bundles data from sources, such as: temperature sensors, energy meters, generators, water meters. This information is then visualised on a dashboard. The dashboard then makes it possible for you to analyze this data and optimize your business processes.
What are asset types?
The asset type determines which data sources an asset can receive data from. Data sources that are not relevant to a certain type of asset are filtered out as a result. This simplifies the creation of an asset. The asset type works as a standard model, so new assets, of a certain type, do not have to be completely created from scratch.
Tip!
Given the complexity of creating an asset type, Calculus has already created the right asset types for you.
Suppose we have a Generator asset type. We want to keep similar data for every asset of this type.
In this example, we therefore add the four fields: Temperature, Output, Modem and Position.
When adding new assets of the Generator type, all you have to do is fill in the fields mentioned above with the correct data sources of a gateway.
An asset type therefore makes it easy to add a series of similar assets to the Calculus Platform.
Attention!
Asset types are not tied to one specific project. You can also share asset types you own with other businesses. When you share asset types with another company, you can make it easier for that company to create assets.
