How to add a Dashboard template to a Project

A dashboard forms a complete overview of the data sent in from one or multiple gateways and the devices connected to those gateways. The dashboards are a collection of widgets, or graphs.

In this article you will learn how to make a dashboard from a template (a Dashboard used in another Project or in the same Project).

Please note! It is very important to note that after completing step 1, you will SHARE a dashboard with another Project. Any changes made to one, will affect the other. If you simply want to use one Dashboard as a TEMPLATE, be very sure to complete step 3 of this article and uninclude the original Dashboard from the second Project.

Step 1:    Make your Template available through the Edit Project Page

  1. Use the sidebar menu on the left to navigate to the Projects Page
  2. Select the project to which you want to add a dashboard template
  3. In the Dashboard-section, you can type (part of) the name of the dashboard you are looking for. Or scroll through the list and use the navigation arrows to find a specific dashboard.
  4. You can change the name of a dashboard by clicking the current name and editing it
Please note! By changing the name of a dashboard in the edit project page, the name change will only be of effect within this specific project. The name of the dashboard will remain the same as it was for future use in other projects.
  5. You can check the dashboard(s) that you want to make available for the project users by checking the ‘included’-button

Step 2:    Add your Dashboard from Template

  1. Use the sidebar menu on the left to navigate to the Dashboards Page
  2. Click the plus sign that appears when you hover the Dashboards-icon
  3. Choose a fitting name for your dashboard
  4. Add a description to your dashboard (optional)
The dashboard description will appear like the following in your title:
  5. Select the ‘Duplicate Dashboard‘ toggle
  6. Choose your template dashboard from the drop down menu. Selecting a template dashboard will create the new dashboard based on the template. All widgets and layout will be copied from the template to your new dashboard.
The Data Sources of your original Dashboard will appear on the right side of the page, under Template Dashboard Data Sources
  7. Select the Data Sources for your new Dashboard
Please note! If your original Dashboard is based on multiple Data Sources, be sure to respect their order when selecting your new Data Sources.
In this example, the Template (original) Gateways will be replaced as follows
    • Legacy                    >    generator1
    • C07W test v1.0       >    generator2
    • C07W test v2.0       >    generator3
  8. Press save and your new Dashboard from Template will appear

Step 3:    Uninclude the Template Dashboard from your New Project

  1. Use the sidebar menu on the left to navigate to the Projects Page
  2. Select the new Project
  3. In the Dashboard-section, you can type (part of) the name of the dashboard you are looking for. Or scroll through the list and use the navigation arrows to find a specific dashboard.
  4. Uninclude the original Dashboard(s) which you used to make new Dashboard(s) from Template
