You will see the start screen as shown below. Click on **Read configuration from a module** if you want to adjust the IP address of a connected controller. ![Deep Sea Electronics configuration suite interface with options for new and event configurations.](https://cdn.document360.io/94d0a983-5058-4b02-8d06-1228a999a7a1/Images/Documentation/2026-03-31 15-45-00.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T06%3A15%3A52Z&se=2026-11-04T07%3A15%3A52Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WaRfIq0o%2FdGGtoJleILr3pHwT%2BiLEG54FaxJw8qnZ5Y%3D) ## Connect to the controller At the top, you can choose how to connect to the DSE controller. This can be via USB or TCP/IP. Select **TCP/IP connection** to connect via Ethernet. ## Go to Ethernet settings In the menu on the left, go to: **Communications** → **Ethernet Port** Here you can see the settings for the IP address and Modbus port. ![Configuration settings for Ethernet port and DHCP options in network management interface.](https://cdn.document360.io/94d0a983-5058-4b02-8d06-1228a999a7a1/Images/Documentation/2026-03-31 15-45-01.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T06%3A15%3A52Z&se=2026-11-04T07%3A15%3A52Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WaRfIq0o%2FdGGtoJleILr3pHwT%2BiLEG54FaxJw8qnZ5Y%3D) ## Disabling DHCP By default, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is enabled with **Obtain IP Address Automatically**. To set a static IP address, you need to uncheck this. After that, the fields for **IP Address**, **Subnet Mask**, **Gateway Address**, and **DNS Address** can be set manually. ## Set the static IP address Now enter the desired network information: - **IP Address** The fixed IP address you want to assign to the controller (for example, 192.168.2.11). - **Subnet Mask** Usually 255.255.255.0 for local networks. - **Gateway Address** The IP address of the router. - **DNS Address** If necessary, the IP address of the DNS server. ## Write the changes to the controller Press the icon at the top to save the settings to the controller. ![Software interface showing 8610 MKII configuration options and connection settings.](https://cdn.document360.io/94d0a983-5058-4b02-8d06-1228a999a7a1/Images/Documentation/image-1774966517612.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T06%3A15%3A52Z&se=2026-11-04T07%3A15%3A52Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=WaRfIq0o%2FdGGtoJleILr3pHwT%2BiLEG54FaxJw8qnZ5Y%3D) > [!WARNING] > Attention! > > The controller must be restarted for the changes to become effective.
