Once installed, it will ask for your login details. Use the credentials you use to log in to the Calculus Portal. ![Login interface for Calculus Digger with fields for email and password.](https://cdn.document360.io/94d0a983-5058-4b02-8d06-1228a999a7a1/Images/Documentation/2025-08-19 10-25-37.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T06%3A18%3A50Z&se=2026-11-04T07%3A18%3A50Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=IaNTTkjvmwHofHBbeX%2FuT6oLZSMvuvon9d64cehLv7U%3D) > [!TIP] > Hint! > > When Digger is started, it automatically checks for updates, so that you always have the latest version. ## Using Calculus Digger When you have succesfully logged in to Digger, you will see the screen below. ![User interface of Calculus Digger showing Ethernet settings and activation toggle.](https://cdn.document360.io/94d0a983-5058-4b02-8d06-1228a999a7a1/Images/Documentation/2025-08-19 11-06-42.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T06%3A18%3A50Z&se=2026-11-04T07%3A18%3A50Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=IaNTTkjvmwHofHBbeX%2FuT6oLZSMvuvon9d64cehLv7U%3D) In the field **Select Gateway**, choose the gateway you want to connect to. Only see gateways that are online, and linked to projects to which you have access, will be available. Choose **modbus.tcp** in **Select Slave Definition**. After this, you can select the IP address to which the DSE controller is connected in **Select Slave**. Finally, click on the **Activate** button to create a tunnel connection to the selected gateway. ## Deep Sea Electronics Configuration Suite Next, open the Deep Sea Electronics Configuration Suite. You can request this tool from Deep Sea Electronics. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/94d0a983-5058-4b02-8d06-1228a999a7a1/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1793365097375.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T06%3A18%3A50Z&se=2026-11-04T07%3A18%3A50Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=IaNTTkjvmwHofHBbeX%2FuT6oLZSMvuvon9d64cehLv7U%3D) For **Connect via**, select **TCP/IP connection**. You have previously set this up via the Digger by choosing **modbus.tcp** at **Slave Definition**. Next, go to **TCP/IP Settings**. When you use the Calculus Digger tool, you must always enter **127.0.0.1** for **IP Address** and **502** for **IP Port**. At **Server ID**, select the Slave ID of the controller through which the modbus is read. This Slave ID can be found in the gateway setting. Finally, click on the **Read from module** button, which you will find to the left of **Connect via**. You now have an active connection to the gateway via the Deep Sea Electronics Digger tool.
