Data not showing: Date range

Prev Next

Use this article when the asset indicator is green but no data is visible on the dashboard.

In this step, you check the selected date range to confirm whether data is simply outside the visible time window.
You are doing this to rule out display and visibility issues before investigating hardware, gateways, or data sources.

The dashboard only shows data within the selected time period.
If the date range is incorrect or unexpected, it may appear as if no data is available even though the system is working correctly.

Verifying the date range ensures you are looking in the right place before continuing troubleshooting.

Check the selected date range

You can always see the currently selected date range in the top right corner of the dashboard.
This should be the first thing to check when data appears to be missing.

If the selected range does not match what you expect, you can change it by clicking on it.
A panel will open where you can select a different date range.

Common options:

  • Today

Use this option to quickly check whether data is coming in right now.

  • Custom range

Select a start and end date, then click Apply to confirm your selection.

Once the correct date range is selected, the dashboard will automatically refresh.

No data in certain widgets

Sometimes the dashboard as a whole shows data, but one or more widgets remain empty.
This does not necessarily indicate a problem.

Some widgets have their own date range settings and do not always follow the main dashboard date range.

Heatmap Widget

Depending on its configuration, the heatmap widget may continue to display data from the last seven days, even if a different date range is selected for the dashboard.

If the heatmap does not reflect the expected time period:

  • Click the chart context menu in the top-right corner of the widget

  • Open the widget settings

  • Adjust the date range specifically for the heatmap

After saving the settings, the heatmap will refresh and display data for the selected period.

Calculus Map Widget

The Calculus map widget can display data in two different modes:

  • Track and Trace
Displays the route a mobile asset has taken over time.

  • Show Assets
Display the current location of an asset.

If Track and Trace is selected for an asset that does not move, the map may appear empty.
In that case, switching to Show Assets will make the asset visible.

To change the mode:

  • Click the eye icon on the right side of the widget

  • Select the display mode you want to use

Timeline Widget

The timeline widget shows how data values and event states change over time.

If no data or event state changes occur within the selected date range, there is nothing to display and the widget will remain empty.
This is expected behavior and does not indicate a problem.

What you can do

  • Select a larger date range in which changes are likely to have occurred.

  • Once a period with changes is selected, the timeline widget will automatically display the data.

Summary

The dashboard displays data within the selected date range.
An incorrect or unexpected date range can make it appear as if no data is available, even when the system is working correctly.

Verifying the date range helps rule out visibility issues before checking hardware or configuration.

If the date range is correct and no data appears, continue troubleshooting by checking the current activity of the asset.
