How To Set Up A Project

1 Create a new project

You can create a project in order to gather and display data that have a connection to each other. You can consider a project to be temporary, or a permanent facility to which you want to add multiple dashboards.

For example
Permanent: You create a project called ‘Generators’ in which you assign one dashboard to each specific generator. All your generator-dashboards will be grouped in this project.
Temporary: if you have a temporary project or event, you can create a project for this event. In the project you can create a dashboard ‘generators’.

There are two ways to create a new project:

A. Create new project through the Action Menu

  1. While on the homepage, select the action menu in the upper right corner
  2. In the action menu, select Add Project
  3. Follow the steps in C. Add project information

B. Create new project through the Projects Page

  1. Use the sidebar menu on the left to navigate to the Projects Page
  2. Click the plus sign to add a new project
  3. Follow the steps in C. Add project information

C. Add project information

  1. Choose a fitting name for your project and choose the maptype you want future locations to be projected on
  2. Here you can choose if your project is a permanent or a temporary one.
If you are managing a temporary project or event within a certain time range (this could range from hours to years), we advise you check the use date range-box. This will ensure that you always have a visual of the period in which your data was gathered. In real-time while the data is coming in, but also when the project is over. If you do not check the box, you will automatically be shown the data from the last 24 hours.
For a permanent project, leave the box unchecked
  3. If you want that your date range selection will be remembered across all dashboards you can select this option.
  4. Create as demo project. If you select this option your project will be provided with a set of demo stuff, like a few demo projects, alerts, diagrams and work items.
  5. Type in the main address of your project or company.
If the site is known on Google Maps, you can also type in the name of the site or building
  6. Select your desired zoom percentage underneath the map
  7. This map will now be shown on the homepage of your project where you can add different markers to it. Learn about markers in this article
  8. Press save

A dashboard is a visualisation of data sent from one or multiple gateways and the devices connected to those gateways. A dashboard is basically a collection of widgets, like for instance a graph.

In this step you will learn how to make a dashboard from a template.

  4. You can change the name of a dashboard by clicking the current name and editing it
  5. You can (dis)able the dashboard that you want to make available for the project users by (un)checking the ‘included’-button

  5. You can (dis)able the gateways that you want to make available for the project users by (un)checking the ‘included’-button
